Marsham History – be a part of it!

100 years ago there was an airfield/relief landing ground in Marsham, between the Church and Allison Street, known at the time as ‘The Whites’.

A Memorial Plaque has been ordered which will be placed near the Church, overlooking the original site, which we hope will be unveiled in the near future. This will be to remember the pioneering airmen of WW1 who flew from Marsham.

Cllrs Bob Parke and Lesley Willcocks are keen to see this project come to fruition and the cost of the Memorial can only be covered by the generous donations of local businesses and individuals.

Therefore, should anyone in the village be interested in helping us with any amount of funding, we would be most grateful and would love to hear from you. We will list contributors in a future Newsletter.

Meet & Mardle wins funding…

We are pleased to announce that our grant application to the EDP’s Community Chest Fund was successful and we’ve been given £250. Thanks to everyone that collected tokens for us -a real community effort. The grant will enable us to continue to provide the sessions for free so do pop in for a drink and chat. If you know of anyone who lives alone and perhaps has become more isolated recently do encourage them to join us.
